This is the main page for The Level, a series of tutorials for D3Edit. These lessons are intended for users who have no game editing or 3D modeling experience at all. I will take you step-by-step through an entire level build - from launching D3Edit for the first time, to playing in your completed level!

It is recommended that these lessons be taken in order. This is because you will be building a level as the lessons progress. If, however, you would like to skip some lessons, a downloadable version of The Level is available for every lesson. For example, if you want to skip ahead to the bending tutorial, you can download The Level as it would have been built had you taken the previous lessons. Also if you made a mistake along the way, you can download it at the start of each lesson, knowing that you have a correct version of the level at that stage.

Follow the instructions by the letter and you will have no problems. There is some room for creativity as well. This is a fairly simple level, but most of D3Edit's features will be covered. We'll even create and fix some mistakes for troubleshooting practice.

Please be patient while the pages load completely, the pictures may take a minute to appear, but they are necessary. The tutorial pages are as "printer friendly" as possible. There are a lot of graphics, but the text and background are mainly black on white.

It is important to save often. There is no Undo function! It is highly recommended that you keep at least 2 backup copies of your level and update them as you go, especially when you complete a certain task or reach an important stage. That way if you screw up beyond hope, you can revert to a previously saved version.
